TEMPLE, Texas – Marchea Latonya Brooks, 40, of Harker Heights was arrested by the Temple Police Department for an April meat theft.
According to an affidavit, Marchea Latonya Brooks was arrested Tuesday morning for a theft that took place on April 15. At 3:34 p.m. on April 15, the Temple Police Department was dispatched to an HEB in the 3000 block of South 31st Street for a theft in progress. Upon arrival, they learned Brooks and her accomplice, 53-year-old Latonya Thomas fled the area. An employee saw Brooks and Thomas leave the store with the meat and attempted to stop them unsuccessfully. Brooks and Thomas were able to leave with a large quantity of meat. The value of the meat was estimated at $2,000. On Tuesday, May 10, Brooks was arrested. In addition to the charges for the Temple theft, Brooks is facing charges for five unrelated incidents involving theft, two of which were in Harker Heights. Brooks is also charged with failure to ID as a fugitive. Her bond is set at $2,000. Police are still searching for Latonya Thomas.
