Shanique Parker Guilty, Gets 20 Years

Shanique Parker, of Killeen, was sentenced to twenty years in prison for causing an injury to a 2-month-old boy she was babysitting that resulted in the child’s death.

According to an affidavit, Shanique Parker, now 31, threw 2-month-old Quan Kendrick Devin Scott into a car seat in a manner that caused a fatal fracture to his skull. Parker told investigators that she was frustrated with the child’s mother for leaving the children in her care for a period of time longer than they agreed upon. Shanique Shaniel-Shavon Parker, has been held in the Bell County Jail since being booked on Jan. 23, 2020. On March 18, 2020, she was indicted for injury to a child with intentional severe bodily injury. Her bond was set at $1 million and never posted. Her trial began on June 28. On July 5, a jury found Parker guilty of a lesser charge of reckless injury to a child. Reckless injury to a child is a second-degree felony with a maximum punishment of 20 years in prison. The jury sentenced parker to twenty years in prison.
